Frequently asked questions

  1. What is a Sprint?
    We convene industry professionals, academics and regulators to discuss the future thinking about a specific topic.
     
  2. Where is the Sprint taking place?
    The Sprint will take place in-person only at our FCA Headquarters: 12 Endeavour Square, London, E20 1JN. Please see the agenda page for more details.
     
  3. Is this Sprint being conducted under the Chatham House Rules?
    Yes, this will help encourage open discussion by protecting the anonymity of meeting participants. 
     
  4. What are the Chatham House Rules? 
    When a meeting, or part thereof, is held under the Chatham House Rule, participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, may be revealed.
     
  5. Will there be a briefing before the Sprint?
    Yes, a Bootcamp Briefing will be held shortly before the Sprint. Please check the agenda for more details. It's important to attend the bootcamp briefing to help you learn more about the Sprint agenda, structure and expectations. There will also be an opportunity to ask us any questions.
     
  6. How do I apply to be a participant?
    Please click on the button on the home page that says 'Apply Here'. This link will redirect you to our application page. Please note: submitting an application does not guarantee participation. We receive a large number of applications for a limited number of available places, and we will let you know the status of your application shortly after the application deadline has passed. Our Sprints require a diverse range of participants, and we take this into account in our selection process. 
     
  7. Can I attend the Showcase as an Observer?
    No, Observer invitations are by invitation only. 
     
  8. Can individuals apply and take part in the Sprint?
    Yes, individuals can apply. Although teams will be made up form the attendee pool. If more than one person applies for the same organisation,  we will select the most appropriate person to attend.
     
  9. What support can I expect during the Sprint?
    Throughout the Sprint, participating teams will have access to dedicated note takers and facilitators will help guide your solution development and provide relevant steers where appropriate.
     
  10. What happens at the end of the Sprint?
    The Sprint will culminate in a Showcase, where teams will present the solutions in front of an audience. The audience will also have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of your presentation.
     
  11. How do I login to take part in the Bootcamp briefing?
    The Sprint we will be held on a MS Teams call. You can join via a browser or from your computer/device. 
     
  12. What if I don't use MS Teams?
    You do not need to have a MS Teams account to join the sessions, you can join anonymously through a browser.
     
  13. What’s the best browser to use?
    If you're joining the session via a browser, use a media-source extension (MSE) - enabled web browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge
     
  14. What if my organisation blocks MS Teams?
    Contact your IT department if access to MS Teams is blocked by your organisation, or you may try using your personal device to join.
     
  15. Where can I find my joining link?
    An email with joining instructions will be sent shortly before the Bootcamp briefing, if you haven’t received the joining link by at least the day before the session is due to start, please check your junk folder or email our team and we'll resend you the joining links.
     
  16. Does the Sprint cost anything?
    The Sprint is completely free. Refreshments will be provided throughout the Sprint including lunch. However, there are plenty of locations in Statford for you to choose different refreshment options.
     
  17. How do I get to the FCA office?
    There are local and national travel options available, please check your route before you travel, you will be responsible for your own transport to and from the Sprint and any accommodation you require.

     
  18. I am no longer able to take part in the Sprint- can someone take my place?
    No, but we will assess your circumstance on a case by case basis, please email techsprints@fca.org.uk with any change of details.
     
  19. What if I need to cancel my application/registration?
    Please email techsprints@fca.org.uk if you would like to cancel your application/registration.
     
  20. Can you confirm my attendance for CPD purposes?
    Following your attendance at the Sprint, we can send an email with the Sprint details. Feel free to use this to submit to your professional association.
     
  21. Is the dress code for the TechSprint? ​​​
    Please wear whatever you feel comfortable in and/or would wear to work on a normal business day (casual/business casual).
